Internships

Summer Learning Adventures Informal Educator Internship:

As an Informal Educator in our Summer Learning Adventures program, you will guide children ages 4-15 to explore the wonders of marine science during classroom and field programs. Working with Birch Aquarium instructors, you will gain valuable experience in pre-K through eighth grade education as it occurs in an informal science setting.

We are looking for motivated college students who have good communication skills, basic knowledge of biology or marine science, and enjoy working with children ages 4-15. Punctual, reliable and flexible people who can volunteer to work as part of a team, take initiative and work outdoors are invited to apply.

Internship dates and application materials will be available in February 2009.

Youth Summer Internship:

As a Youth Summer Intern, you will help make our simulated tide pools and adjacent interpretive station come alive for our visitors by demonstrating animal coping strategies; interpreting animal camouflage in our Art of Deception exhibit; and conducting climate change-related activities in our Feeling the Heat exhibit. You will be interacting with the public at all times.

We are looking for enthusiastic high school students who have excellent communication skills. Punctual, reliable and flexible people who can volunteer to work as part of a team, take initiative and work outdoors are invited to apply.
